Dr. Ganga Rajinee Dissanayaka is an ethnographer and art historian whose work focuses on material culture, critical museum studies, and participatory research methodologies. Her research examines the provenance and circulation of Sri Lankan objects in global museums and explores alternative models for knowledge co-production.
She has led multiple heritage projects, authored books, produced documentaries on Sri Lanka’s temple heritage, and writes regularly for newspapers. Her current work centres on seventeenth-century Sri Lankan art and craft traditions, as well as Colombo’s historical exchanges with the wider world. She contributes to debates on repatriation through the PPROCE-Netherlands collective and has served on NWO committees in the Netherlands. Dr. Dissanayaka is currently a NIAS–NIOD–KITLV Research Fellow.
