Dr Tessel M. Bauduin originally trained as a medievalist and has been specialized in (the art, culture and heritage of) modernism and the avant-garde for twenty years. Situated at the University of Amsterdam, Dr Bauduin teaches Art History, Museum and Heritage Studies, and Restitution Research. Bauduin’s current research projects focus on: critical heritage ecologies; the decolonization of museum collections, especially modern(ist) and surrealist collections; and modern curiosity cabinets. Her edited volume Surrealism and the Tarot will be published in 2025 (Fulgur Press). Bauduin has been a member of the Board of the International Society for the Study of Surrealism since 2022.
