Keynote address delivered by Colin Sterling for the annual conference of the European Society for Nineteenth-Century Art.
In 2024 the conference focused on ecological issues with the theme: Living Apart Together? The troubled and treasured relationship between nature and human beings in art, 1800-1900. The event was held at the Kröller-Müller Museum to coinicide with the exhibition The Wood for the Trees, with work by Andy Holden, Eija-Liisa Ahtila, Julian Charrière and Hans Op de Beeck.
